Greetings from Deep East Texas! Karma Farms is located between Marshall and Jefferson on US 59, only about 14 miles off I-20. It is a family farm, now run by the Speir family. Thomas (Tom), Vickie (Vik), Victoria (Tori), and Tomlyn (Tommi) invite you to visit, run our links and enjoy our wonderful way of life.
We share Karma Farms with 70+ purebred Spanish Mustangs, also known as Original Indian Horses. Pairing up riders with their own Spanish Colonial Horse is one of our main passions in life. We invite you to visit our ponies here online or in person. If you have EVER wanted to own your own legendary Spanish Mustang/"O" American Indian Horse, check out our sale horses at Mares For Sale Page and Stallions and Geldings For Sale Page.
People often ask us, "What can you do with a Spanish Mustang?" These handy, versatile horses can do virtually anything you like to do horseback--from barrel racing to dressage. Here at Karma Farms, our favorite sports are competitive trail riding and American Indian Horse Shows, but we do special exhibitions, parades, and all sorts of fun events as we promote America's First Horse. Follow this link to our Spanish Mustang Page where you will find some pictures of our horses in action in competitive trail riding and some interesting links about the breed's characteristics and history.
These unique, historic horses are highly endangered; less than 3,000 are left in the world today. "O" Indian Horses are among the most wonderful, tough and loyal of horses, and each is a unique work of the Great Spirit. If you'd like to know more about our favorite registry which records the pedigrees of America's First Horse, drop in at the American Indian Horse homepage.
Another great place to look for info on Spanish Mustangs is the homepage of the Spanish Mustang Registry.
Our first Spanish Mustang changed the course of our lives. His name was Choctaw Sun Dance, and you can read his history including photos of his illustrious career by clicking on his name or his picture. Our living stallions which you can visit on their own pages include the winningest SMR stallion alive today,
Rowdy Yates, and our lovely Book Cliffs stallion, El Tigre Segundo.
Here's
Dance Magic, a 1993 blue corn appaloosa by Choctaw Sun Dance out of Little Corn. Soon we'll be adding pages for our other standing Choctaw Sun Dance sons: Locomotion, a 1993 War Bonnet out of Easter Lilly and X-Files, a 1995 black appaloosa out of Pie. We're always building here, so drop in often!
This spring our family and friends mounted our "Moorish Barbs" as the jousters for the Four Winds Renaiassance Faire, spending 4 weekends in period regalia and armor. Click here to see the action at the Four Winds Renaissance Faire. This page was just updated (July 6, 1998) with professional pictures from Studio III in Tyler, Texas.
We also share the farm with our special bigfooted Karma Kats! Visit our polydactyl cats page where you can meet some really unique cats and learn about the registry we started for them, as well as see pictures of our current kittens for sale.
Vik has done extensive writing in several fields, especially about Spanish Mustangs and competitive trail riding. But she also enjoys gothic fantasy. This link leads to Andre's page for those of you who are looking for LeGrande.
Tom is involved in Texas
Archeology. Last year he helped to excavate Lasalle's ship LaBelle, and brought home some good pictures which you can see on his page.
These next links will lead you to the pages of some of our favorite "YOUNG MUSTANGERS". Our daughters Tori and Tommi are busy in all the farm activities. Tomlyn would like to tell you all about her horses herself. You can visit her, Buck's Girl and her newly crowned National Champion Fernando on her page. She also has links there to some sites honoring her favorite literary hero--Hank the Cowdog)!
Some of our past apprentice trainers, young men who helped us here on the farm as Vik recuperated from her injury, have their own pages which you might also enjoy. Here's David Frey's, Luke Kennon's, and Japeth Parker's personal pages.
Here's a link to a page built by Ashley Newkirk of Arizona, another rising star in the world of Spanish Mustangs. You'll enjoy reading about Ashley and her horses at this site. These historic horses and kids just go together like peas and cornbread. America's First Horse is also America's best family horse.
